This is a good indicator. Are you interested in technical analysis Paul?

It is a great indicator. My default recommendation for most investors who don’t have the time to pick individual stocks, is the timing model, vs traditional buy and hold. I manage my parent’s money with a variation of the timing model.
I use technical analysis as one of the tools to select my trades. It’s a tool that improves my odds of winning trades.

Two of my trading associates are very large brain traders like yourself who specialize in tech analysis and are by far the best traders I have met in time I have been studying tech analysis. They each host free chart analysis where they post everyday for groups of traders who follow. Although they each have their own distinctive styles and somewhat different methodolgy I’ve learned a ton from them both and enjoy looking forward to the daily charts that include bull/bear ratios, summation index, and some proprietary supp/resist levels for futures scalping (which I know does not interest you) but also the broader market turns. If you are interested in checking them out I think you might find them very interesting. Let me know and I will pass the info to you via email anytime.

if there is a govt refinancing program, it will be implemented by the agencys and apply only to agency debt. Less refinancing risk with the non agency mortgages.

Hi
To All Those Would Be Retirees:
I took an early retirement 7 years ago at age 45. I left the USA and decided to live in Thailand. I live off my dividends and ONLY my dividends. But, my overhead lifestyle is very modest, yet all my needs and wants are satisfied. I spend at least 3 hours a day in reseaching the market and often put in as many as 10 hours when I get “all wound up”. This is the best “job” I’ve ever had!
I recommend all who visit this site and are considering a retirement grounded in living off of dividends to not be scared from pursing their dream. It is certaintly intimidating for the aveage employee to go out on their own, but if you can keep your overhead low, and you find your own investing strategy/method that suits your personality, then all thats left is motivation.
By the way, when I retired, I wasnt even close to owning a million bucks (and still far from it) so dont listen to those who say you need ” X” amount in the bank before you can “drop out”.
And, great job on your site.
Jake
Comment on MLP taxation – the worst case scenario by jeff
My concerns/questions with MLPs:
Are shares routinely sold to fund distributions?
Once assets are depreciated and need replacement, from where will the money come to replace those assets?
Are these valid concerns?
Thanks, jeff

Hi, Paul and all who read this blog. It has been a while since activity, but I would like to take the opportunity to wish all a Merry Christmas. Paul, I sincerely hope your mother’s medical condition has stabilized; I have personal experience and empathy for such issues. Finally, Happy New Year; hope 2012 is a wonderful and prosperous year for all.

Thanks J. Merry Xmas and Happy new year to you and your family as well. Things have stabilized with my mother which is great. Now its about managing her illness. Definitely a learning process with lots of ups and downs.
As for the blog, I’ve been thinking about getting back into it. Family stuff has quieted down, RV projects have subsided. Just need to get motivated again.
